Geological hazards of the Gerecse Hills (Hungary)

نویسندگان

چکیده

Landslides and related mass movement processes actively pose a threat in the Gerecse Hills (Hungary, Transdanubian Range) by endangering residential agricultural areas. Several closed or abandoned mining sites waste deposits are also located area. Most of these have not been fully remediated, which makes their surroundings dangerous unsuitable for other use. A multi-hazard map (1: 60,000) was prepared about geological hazard sources collecting synthetizing data from individual thematic maps databases. The aim is to provide comprehensive look at different but often-interrelated content consists three main parts: result statistical landslide susceptibility analysis marking most landslide-prone slopes, documented slope failure events, areas hazardous deposits.

Geological structure of the Trzebnica Hills in the light of new investigation

Over 1 OO-m elevation of Cainozoic sediments (mostly of Tertiary age) in the Trzebnica Hills was the effect of tectonic movement of rock masses within the Fore-S udetic Monocline. Differences in heights are considerably high and locally reach 70 m. Glaciotectonic deformations during consecutive glaciations additionally contributed to substantial complication of inner structure. The main stage o...

Projected future climate changes in the context of geological and geomorphological hazards.

On palaeoclimate time scales, enhanced levels of geological and geomorphological activity have been linked to climatic factors, including examples of processes that are expected to be important in current and future anthropogenic climate change. Planetary warming leading to increased rainfall, ice-mass loss and rising sea levels is potentially relevant to geospheric responses in many geological...
